Reading Resources

1. The Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Association: www.metroatlantabeekeepers.org
This website offers a plethora of insight into beekeeping in Georgia. There are links to Georgia Bee Laws, great information on the Association itself, and even offers a Beekeeping "Chat" for those of us who have general knowledge questions. I have utilized this website and have found the expertise and helpfulness to be unparalleled.

2. First Lessons in Beekeeping by C.P. Dadant & Sons
The beginner beekeepers "Bible". I relied heavily on this book while I was in the process of deciding if I wanted to keep bees. Pick this one up before you do anything else.

3. Natural Beekeeping by Ross Conrad
This is a must-have for those of you interested in an organic approach to beekeeping. He offers several different methods of natural pest control, including Varroa mites. Some of the information is more pertinent for those who live in the Northern climate as Ross is located in Vermont, but nonetheless, an interesting and knowledgable book.

4. The Beekeepers Handbook by Diana Sammataro.
An excellent book for beginner beekeepers. It offers a wealth of information from basic bee anatomy to integrated pest control. A great quick reference guide.
